THE LOCATION AND THE CAMPUS

Ghatal Rabindra Satabarsiki Mahavidyalaya is located in the heart of Ghatal town just by the side of Ghatal-Panskura Road with extensive transport and communication facilities. It is well connected with all the remote places of Ghatal sub-division through bus roads having very frequent local and express bus services and most of the hinterlands are not more than 2 hrs. bus journey. The college is only 14 klI1S. away from Birsingha, the sacred birth place of Pandit Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar. It is 30 kins. away from Panskura Railway Station and it takes two and half hours journey to Vidyasagar University to which the college is ailiated.

Geographically, Ghatal Rabindra Satabarsiki Mahavidyalaya is surrounded by green-belt with trees and open ground. A spacious 10 acres campus providing approximately 43,000 sq. it. built-up areas_for housing the College Office, Professors’ Common Room, Class-rooms, Library, Science Laboratories, Boys’ & Girls’ Common Rooms, Students’ Canteen & Union Rooms etc. The faculties are very rich with expert Professors and the library is well equipped with more than 22,000 books. The college office is well computerised. The library is equipped with computer automation. There are departmental Library forn each department. There is PG Library.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES 

Dissemination of knowledge is the primary object of the Mahavidyalaya. The Mahavidyalaya aims at imparting liberal education which helps in developing the total personality of the students and in bringing about all-round growth of their body and mind. The most outstanding feature of the Mahavidyalaya is to instill such habits and thoughts which will enable the students from village background to accept the best of Indian culture to become -worthy citizen of the country both materially and spiritually. The Maha vidyalaya encourages and appreciates healthy and cordial. yet disciplined, reciprocal relationship between the teachers and the students. The Mahavidyalaya aims at empowerment of the girls of the locality through education. The Mahavidyalaya provides an opportunity of post-education employment. access to PG level and competitive examinations and extends opportunity to backward classes.
